My story is one of determination and hope. I worked full-time, went to school full-time, and took advantage of every federal program I was eligible for. I stood in welfare lines and used food stamps. I did whatever was necessary. After so many struggles, I met William when my daughter was not even a year old. With my mother and him backing me, I graduated college and I now am a Calculus teacher. I might have eaten dirt to be where I am now, but it was all worth it. When the times get tough, when you are exhausted, and working your 15th hour during the night shift, think about your child. I can afford now to give my daughter an even better life than I had. What more can I ask? At 26, William and I are expecting our second blessing, our first child together.
