I am an 18-year-old female. I found out I was pregnant 9 months before my graduation. I had big plans for my life when I got out of school. I planned to go to college, get a job, buy my own car and move in with my boyfriend I've been dating for 3yrs. Well, one day I took a pregnancy test with my boyfriend, and the results were positive. I was so afraid. I cried for days thinking and wondering how everything will be from now on. I didn't know who to tell so I told my best friend and he told his friend. I couldn't think on how or when to tell my parents. Well, time passed and so did days. Finally, I decided to tell them. It was Christmas day I told both mom and dad. My mom cried and my dad was angry. They both told me "how disappointed they were in me". During 5 months of my pregnancy I never got any medical attention. I didn't even take my iron pills. During my fifth month my mom took me too see a doctor. I was scared that the doctor was going to tell me there was something wrong with my baby. Like she was deformed or she wasn't going to be normal. I prayed before he came back and he told me she was fine, nothing was wrong with her; she was going to be a normal baby!

Well, the days passed and I had to drop out of my high school and take home-school. Well, there were times when my boyfriend and I would talk about getting an abortion. He called clinics and made an appointment. Until one Friday, 1 hour before my appointment, I told him "lets go." So we left. On the way to the clinic, I thought how could I be doing this? We parked. I got out and was attacked by people saying this is bad and why was I doing this. I walked in, then sat filling out paper work. They called my name and I went into a room and changed into a nightgown. I sat in a waiting room with 10 or more girls sitting waiting to have an abortion. All the girls that were there were smiling and laughing. I was the only one in there crying. I was upset with myself and thought "why am I doing this?" They called me into the room. The lady took a sonogram of the baby. I didn't get to see it! I then told the lady "I shouldn't be here. I'm doing the wrong thing. Please can I go?" So I then got up and left, walked out and didn't say anything to my friend, or my boyfriend.

The day before my graduation I signed back up for my high school, so I can graduate with my class. I couldn't believe I was graduating. I thought I never could have got my credits I needed in time. Well, everything came together and I graduated with "MY DAUGHTER" sitting in the bleachers with my soon-to-be husband. Every time I look at my baby I think I couldn't have her right now. She could be in my arms or looking at me and smiling; calling me "MAMA!" It brings tears to my eyes, but I know I did the right thing and I'll get a "trophy" in the end. All I say is this: do what's best in your heart and follow your own words. YOU HAVE A VOICE, SO USE IT.
